Braving the Wilderness

No doubt it's reductionist, but I always look at white-on-white paintings, mine included, and am struck by the vision of a blizzard. A whiteout. Such low visibility, there's just some shadows hinting to movement or objects beyond. And what strikes me is, how brave you have to be to step out into such uncertainty, how scary that can be.

And I felt that, not in a physical sense, but the uncertainty of stepping out from the known. In my case, from a career that I thought I'd be in for my whole life, but finding after 20 years that it no longer excited me, and often barely interested me. Where do you go from there? How do you brave the wilderness?
