Even in Darkness Light Persists

This is my second painting in this likeness. There's something contemplative in the moody, dark blue hues and the bright gold highlights dotted around, that is calming. This painting, more than some others, requires greater care when placing the brush down on the canvas to make the daubs on top. I need to exercise patience to deliver such care, and it's through that patience, the slow placement of the brush to the canvas, that I find my own zone of contemplation as I create it.
